What we make

Roller types we cast every week

Every roller is built to a drawing or a sample, not pulled from a shelf. These are the families that come through the shop most often.

Green urethane drive roller

Conveyor and drive rollers

Idler, drive and pinch rollers for belt conveyors, washlines and packing lines. Smooth, crowned or grooved faces, in the hardness that grips the belt without flat spotting.

Green and blue urethane star rollers for vegetable harvesters

Harvester star rollers

Star and finger rollers for leafy green and vegetable harvesters built in the Salinas Valley. Cast soft enough to move product without bruising it and tough enough for a full season.

Blue diamond pattern urethane roller on a steel shaft

Grooved and profiled rollers

Diamond, chevron, groove and custom tread patterns machined into the urethane after cure, for traction, drainage or product control on sizing and singulating lines.

Green urethane roller bonded to a steel core

Recovered rollers on your core

Strip the worn urethane off your existing steel or aluminum core, prep and bond it, and cast a new cover. Keeps the shaft and bearings you already own and shortens lead time.

Miniature urethane rollers next to a penny for scale

Small and precision rollers

Guide rollers, feed rollers and wheels down to a fraction of an inch for labeling, inspection and packaging equipment. Same formulation control at any size.

Yellow urethane sprocket ring

Sprockets and drive rings

Urethane sprockets and sprocket rings for modular belt and chain drives on washlines and conveyors. Quieter than steel and easier on the belt.

How a roller gets built

Four steps, all in our shop

  1. Core. We machine a new steel or aluminum core to your drawing, or strip, inspect and prep the core you send us.
  2. Formulation. The urethane is mixed in house for the hardness, chemical exposure, heat and load the roller will see. Tell us the conditions and we pick the system.
  3. Cast and cure. Poured in a CNC cut mold, vacuum degassed and cured at controlled temperature so the cover bonds to the core and cures evenly all the way through.
  4. Finish. Turned to final diameter on the lathe, grooved or profiled if specified, balanced and inspected against the drawing before it ships.

Once a mold exists for your roller, every reorder runs on it. Most repeat rollers go straight from the drawing on file to casting.

Choosing the urethane

Hardness is the first question. Conditions are the rest.

30A to 90A

Soft to firm

Product handling, coatings, star rollers and anything that touches produce. Grips without marking.

90A to 95A

High impact and abrasive

Drive rollers, washline rollers and conveyors seeing dirt, rock, water and long hours.

60D to 80D

Load bearing

Heavy load rollers, bushings and wheels where the urethane carries weight more than it grips.
